I don’t usually write posts regarding investment opportunities, in fact I never do. However there is a first time for everything they say.

I thought that astute investors may be interested to know of a once in a lifetime opportunity that will pay huge dividends in a few years, like after one or two state elections.

It would seem that under Barry O’Farrell and the Coalition New South Wales is up for sale.

So far it is the Shooters and Fishers who are taking first dibs it would seem.

Some of you may remember Barry’s election promise regarding shooting in National Parks, you should do he made the promise many times. Barry ruled out shooting in National Parks time and time again.

National Parks where hunting has been approved

Well it would seem that this is the promise that just keeps on breaking.

This week it was revealed that Barry O’Farrell has given the Shooters and Fishers Party the final say on guidelines for the independent review being set up to monitor hunting in National Parks.

Geez, that sounds real “Independent” Barry.

This would be a review into the hunting in National Parks that you repeatedly promised would not happen? Now the final say is going to the fringe party whose vote you desperately need to get things through parliament?

That sounds about as fair as an emo’s hair colour to me.

Surely you read the open letter that Tara Moss sent you Barry, it was a fantastic letter. It was a shame however that your right wing pals and gun nuts became so abusive that she had to shut down the comments section.

The Shooters and Fishers Robert Borsak poses with a dead elephant in Africa. I wonder if he’ll do the same with a dead child in a NSW National Park….

As if giving the Shooters and Fishers a massive $25,000 pay rise wasn’t enough, Barry has now sold off our National Parks to the Shooters to use as their own private playground and shooting gallery.

Rumours circulating that familyies going to National Parks will be able to rent bullet proof vests and high visibility flak jackets are yet to be confirmed.

In the meantime, WixxyLeaks is investigating reports of other fringe interest groups seeking to look over other government programmes. Although none of these can be confirmed as yet, there are reports of the following:

  • A conglomerate of bikie gangs are seeking to assist draft new laws relating to gun crime.
  • Representatives from assorted breweries seeking to address drink driving penalties and blood alcohol limit
  • A group of industrial factories, headed by representatives of Orica looking to draft new legislation on disposal of hazardous waste, and amend the laws addressing the polluting of waterways.
  • Big tobacco is rumored to be sending an envoy to discuss rules related to smoking  in public spaces.
  • A consortium of developers will seek to advise the government on infrastructure and land zoning.
  • Finally, the states children have elected a group of representatives seeking the keys to the candy stores.

These may seem ridiculous rumours to some, but in the context of this weeks news they don’t seem out-of-place with a government led by Barry O’Farrell.

Maybe it’s just me, but giving any decision on shooting in National Parks to the Shooters and Fishers Party seems a bit like the US government asking the NRA to draft new gun laws after a school shooting.

image_1341_full

The public expect more from their elected leaders Barry, they do not expect to see fringe groups telling the government what to do. This is a clear case of the tail wagging the dog.

As I reported is a previous article, shootings in NSW have spiralled totally out of control in NSW since the Coalition took office.

With the Shooters and Fishers overseeing the guidelines for shooting in National Parks I fear the number of shooting deaths in NSW will only increase as a result.

Let’s just hope it doesn’t take the death of a child to make the Coalition see the obvious error of their ways.

However, sadly putting self interests before public safety seems to be part of the Coalitions DNA.

Squeeze The Trigger

Posted: February 8, 2013 in Animal Cruelty, Politics

For those of you living in, or planning to visit NSW I have some grim news that you may find disturbing.

The number of shootings in NSW since the Coalition (which now seems to include the Shooters And Fishers Party) came to power is expected to surpass a staggering new record of 200 this month. This year we have had 15 in Sydney alone, three of which were fatal, and that’s only one city in one month. Some would say it is only a matter of time before an innocent bystander is caught in the crossfire, tragically however that day has long passed.

Barry O’Farrell may well have forgotten Bob Knight but I haven’t, and I’m sure his family still mourn to this day. Perhaps when the next innocent bystander is buried by their grieving family O’Farrell will remember his name.

With the apparent new members of O’Farrells Coalition I am not expecting the amount of shootings to drop anytime soon.

With the number of shootings headed towards a double century I thought it would be timely to look at a heavily armed gang that appears to have gone under the radar.

The outlaw gang I am referring to has chapters spread out across the country, even internationally, but with the assistance of government have secured their turf in NSW with very little public outcry.

The gang has been responsible for hundreds of deaths, possibly thousands all over the world and it would seem that there is little that authorities can do to stop them.

This gang is armed to the teeth, and it is no exaggeration to say that virtually every member has at least one firearm, even those in Australia.

One of the more scary aspects of this gang is that the chapters work completely separately, and as such are unorganised. They are notoriously “trigger happy” and are known for their love of the “thrill kill”.

Members of this gang range in age, and there are many members running around with guns that are not old enough to drive a car.

In NSW this gang have carved out their own territory where the Coalition have now given them license to shoot at will. Anybody wandering on to their territory is risking being shot, whether you are man, woman, or even a child, even if you are not behaving in a threatening manner being in their territory is a dangerous place.

You may well be thinking that you would just avoid their territory, and that would be a wise idea, however I would like to think we have the right to be there without running the risk of being shot at.

The territory that this gang has secured for itself to utilise as its own private shooting parlours are our National Parks, and the gang is known as “The Amateur Hunters”.

NPWS-antishooting

Now that in NSW we have an “Amateur Government” in the Coalition “The Amateur Hunters” have struck gold. It is a pity that the rest of the population have lost the safe use of some of the jewels in the countries crown.

When the Amateur Government when faced with the tough choice of using one of two ways to deal with feral animals, Professional or Amateur, the choice it seems was simple. In the same manner in which Barry O’Farrell has seemingly picked his Ministry, and his Parliamentary Secretary Barry has displayed the tendency to lean towards the amateur every time.

Those of us who enjoy our National Parks will pay the price for this sell out of the public’s interest and safety. Calls for this decision to be reversed have been ignored despite it being a broken election promise for Barry.

However I do have some advice to offer those brave enough to venture into parks we once took for granted. When going for a bushwalk with the kids, or even having a quiet bbq with the family remember to keep an ear open for gunshots. Wear loud colours when exploring, I know fluorescent clothing went out of style with Bucks Fizz but it may save your life. Extremely important to remember is even in winter, try not to wear anything that may resemble fur.

Daniel Boone wouldn't last 5 minutes in NSW National Parks with that hat...

Daniel Boone wouldn’t last 5 minutes in NSW National Parks with that hat…

To those who live here, we still have two years to soldier on through with targets on our heads desperately trying not to become a statistic or collateral damage in O’Farrell’s war against the living standards of those who elected him.

For those of you thinking of dropping in for a visit, welcome to Barry O’Farrell’s NSW, where every hour is Amateur Hour.

I Wanna Be Your Dog

Posted: December 27, 2012 in Animal Cruelty, Dummy Spits

One of my favourite bands, The Eels has a song called Dogs Life, here are some of the lyrics:

I’ll take a dog’s life
Just layin’ in the sun
I’ll take a dog’s life
’cause i don’t care for this one

It is clear that when E wrote a song envious of the life of a dog he had not come across some of the pooches in the sorry places I am about to talk about.

We have all walked past the pet shop windows and seen the puppies in their square glass jars playing around or sleeping. They are cute, and they make you want to go in and take them home, but what you may not know is where they have come from.

We have all heard about the demise of the manufacturing industry as our dollar strengthens, we have all seen the factories closing as production lines are replaced by outsourcing in China, there are some factories however that continue to flourish. They are called puppy factories, and I hope you excuse the language, but they are fucking ugly places in every aspect.

These factories don’t make stuffed toy puppies, these factories are places where dogs are kept in the most appalling of conditions and bred so that you can be tempted by puppies as you walk through your local Wesfield.

You have probably heard the line “A dog is not just for Xmas” and it is true. Many dogs are dumped after Xmas, or are given away “Free to a good home”. However I guess a good home all depends on your perspective.

A good home can be a huge variety of things, but what it isn’t is what many of these dogs endure. Chained up on chains that are hardly as long as your arm, shoved in cages that are hardly tall enough for some of the dogs to stand up in. Bed for a dog in these cages is just a puddle of piss or pile of its own shit. Food is whatever gets thrown in, usually some mould encrusted crap which will only cause the former pet to become sick, and end up with gastric problems to add to the filth on the floor and make it lose weight faster than an anorexic junkie with bulimia issues.

Clean enough to eat off....

Clean enough to eat off….

We treat our rapists, murderers, and paedophiles better than we allow these dogs to be treated. I guess if the dog is “mans best friend” than rapists, murderers, and paedophiles must be considered family judging from their treatment. The conditions these dogs suffer could be as a kind of concentration camp for animals.

Home Sweet Home

Home Sweet Home

Many dogs, even after being saved from these farms suffer emotional trauma. Many of them continually walk in small circles for example, because this is all they have ever known. That is as far as they could explore on a short chain or in a tiny cage.

Below are a couple of videos that you may find interesting, as well as shocking, appalling, and disgusting. They may also make you angry, in fact, if they don’t I would suggest slapping yourself in the face a few times and then watching them again.

The first in a segment from earlier this year from the Victorian edition of 7 30 on the ABC, sorry I couldn’t embed the video but below is a link.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2012-02-10/activist-fights-to-save-animals-from-cruelty/3824032

What I find alarming in this video is the attitude of the minister, Peter Walsh. Mr Walsh said that the dogs in the video are probably trembling due to being scared of the lights and the camera. It would not have anything to do with possible beatings, being scared of being chained up, fever, starvation, maybe they haven’t seen light for months… no, it must be the camera crew.

I’m sorry Mr Walsh, seeing as though you are a member of the Ballieu shamble of a Coalition that vaguely passes as a poor excuse for a government I did not have high expectations for you, however even with the lowest of expectations you have succeeded only in your ability to disappoint.

Nobody falls for it anymore, so Minister Walsh is forced to pull his own finger...

Nobody falls for it anymore, so Minister Walsh is forced to pull his own finger…

The next video is taken at the property of an online supplier of pets named Ann Giles. This footage was taken in 2011, however with a Coalition in government things don’t quite achieve a snails pace in the Victorian justice system. Despite over 30 charges of animal cruelty, it was only around a week ago she was ordered in court to sell off all her puppies. She is however still allowed to keep seven dogs. This is akin to the idiots running Victoria putting convicted paedophiles on the list of government approved foster carers.

This is not the first time either, in 2010 she was banned from owning horses (she apparently still has three) and was ordered to remove all dogs from her property except five. Now with extra video evidence and over 30 charges it would seem she is now being allowed to keep two extra dogs. Victorian judicial logic that I can’t quite get my head around….

I know someone who was on the site last month and they assure me that nothing much has changed.

So, you may well be wondering what to do about all of this, well there are a few things.

Don’t buy a pet you only want for a week. Seems obvious I know, but so many people still do…

If you buy a pet, avoid pet stores, try and find a registered breeder. If you are not sure what breed of dog you want, I would suggest going to the local RSPCA to find a pet, they will have many different dogs to choose from all in need of a good home.

You can support organisations like Oscars Law, and the RSPCA in their fights the stop the so called “puppy factories” and their attempts to strengthen laws and see them enforced far more effectively than they are currently. Links to their Facebook pages are embedded in the above text.

The Oscars Law website has a list of things that you can do to assist, simple things like signing petitions, and sending letters to politicians etc

Standing room only?

Standing room only?

Below is a link to a PDF leaflet for Oscars Law, you can send around to your mates if you feel so inclined.

Remember activities such as those described above and shown in those videos will continue unless the public react. The public has a history of not reacting to that which they know nothing of, which is why it is vitally important that anybody who cares about issues such as this spreads the word faster than a Hill$ong missionary on amphetamines.

Anyway, now you know, it’s in your hands.

A warning before I start, there are images which may upset some, so proceed with caution…

I was forwarded an email by a friend recently that I wanted to share, I have changed some of the wording, but you will get the gist…. after all a picture tells a thousand words.

Some of you may have seen the Academy Award Winning documentary “The Cove” for those of you who haven’t, here’s a link to the preview.

There are also many who would assume that this slaughter of whales and dolphins is only performed by the Japanese… You would be wrong.

The following images are from the Faroe Islands, which are a part of Denmark. Yes that’s right Denmark, a Western Country.

The sea is stained in red and it is not because of climate effects or nature. It’s because of the cruelty of the human beings (civilised human) who kill hundreds of the famous and intelligent Calderon dolphins.

This happens every year in The Feroe Island in Denmark. In this slaughter the main participants are young teens.
Why?
 You may well ask
It is a celebration, to show that they are adults and mature!

Although the dolphins aren’t celebrating, and neither should we.

In this big celebration, nobody misses out on  the fun. Everyone gets to participate in one way or the other, either killing or cheering on the cruelty from the shore like a fan at a footy match.

At this point I feel it is necessary to mention that the Calderon Dolphins, are near extinction and they get near men to play and interact.
It is their way of showing and offering their friendship

Alas, these poor creatures don’t die instantly; they are cut 1, 2 or 3 times with thick hooks. And at that time the dolphins produce a grim cry like that of a new born child.

There is no compassion or mercy while this magnificent creature slowly dies in its own blood

I hope, like me, you have had enough of this type of treatment of these glorious creatures.

What can you do?

For starters pass this around, and get the word out there.

You’re My Best Friend

Posted: October 13, 2011 in Animal Cruelty, Dummy Spits

Isn’t it good to have a best friend? Someone you can rely on to love you, protect you, look out for you, nurse you back to health, always be there for you whatever you need. A feeling of total trust, knowing that your best friend would never do anything to hurt you.

For as long as I can remember man has always had one best friend he can rely on, his dog. Until recently, I assumed the relationship worked both ways.

Alas…

Cruelty to animals is something as a society we have never tolerated in Australia. It is not that long ago we saw the public uproar over the live beef exports to Indonesia.

I will warn you now, there are photos in this blog that you may find disturbing. If you are sensitive to these type of images, I would not scroll much further…

In Tasmania a few years back a dog was found at a local tip. We don’t know its name, so I’ll call him Bobby. Bobby was not lost and looking for food, he had been dumped there after being shot. He was found there sadly still alive, and suffering like we cannot begin to imagine, not just because he had been shot, but because Bobby’s ears had been hacked off. Bobby was put down on compassionate grounds, we don’t know how long he had been there, but on top of his other injuries he was also starving. Being put him down was probably the kindest act he had seen in his short life

If you are thinking how nasty and cruel kids can be, think again. This was done by the dog’s owner. You are by now probably wondering what the poor dog had done to deserve this.

It turns out Bobby was born for it.

Bobby was born a greyhound. That was his only crime. If you’re wondering why someone would have hacked his ears off, it’s because he would have had an identifying tattoo on his ears, as greyhounds have their ears tattooed at birth.

Of the approximately 25,000 greyhounds born each year in Australia, very few will live past 4 years of age, despite having an average life expectancy of 12 years.

Only around half of these dogs will reach the normal age for training, as some of them will not be deemed as of racing quality, the rest will usuallt be drowned or beaten to death. Of those who reach training age, many will fail to chase, many will be injured whilst training, and many others will just disappear.

In fact, it has been estimated that approximately 20,000 greyhounds are killed in Australia each year, 80% of those born.

Don’t think the other 5,000 live a happy life though, no more than 2,000 of these end up as racing dogs, usually much less. Only around 500 will end up being adopted as pets. The others have an uncertain fate.

The other couple of thousand dogs are exported to Asia, most ending up in China or Korea. They are shipped there to “race”, although the vast majority will never see a track. Most will end up as someone’s dinner.

Those who end up being sold as meat are not killed by humane methods for the most part. Greyhounds are killed by electrocution, strangulation, drowning, or sometimes
just beaten to death. As the dog meat trade is common, but illegal in Asia, there is no regulation around how a dog is killed for market.

In Korea, it is frightening to note, it is widely believed that an adrenalin rush in the greyhound as it dies, means the meat will increase human virility. This means that the dogs are killed in the cruelest possible ways, as the more painful the death, the more adrenalin, and therefore the more valuable the meat.

Australia’s treatment of greyhounds is an absolute disgrace, if nothing is done about this we should hang our heads in shame.

Seeing the treatment of cattle in the Indonesian abattoirs was quite upsetting and quite appropriately saw urgent changes made to legislation, and saw an immediate halt to the live export trade. Although the coalition did not back the governments measures, preferring the torture of animals to continue till a solution was eventually found. Thankfully the government did not heed to protests of Abbott and Co, and the inhumane treatment was stopped.

For starters, we need to ban the live export of greyhounds. As a country we cannot
be seen to endorse a practice where the torture of animals is actually rewarded. Then we need to work on a way of tracking dogs in Australia. If we go to the trouble of giving greyhounds identifying tattoo’s at birth, why is nothing done to monitor the dogs afterwards?

So what can you do to help?

Firstly, you can adopt a greyhound via the link below.

Alternatively, if you want to spit the dummy, you can contact the executives  listed below. You could suggest to them politely, that they should be seen to be taking measures to place greater controls on the breeding of greyhounds, and also to be seen to be looking into creating measures to track greyhounds, so they are accounted for, and any mistreatment, or illegal killing can be investigated and offenders handed harsh penalties.

You could also ask them why they support the live export of greyhounds to Asia when
greyhounds are not kept as pets there, meaning a certain death awaits them at just 4 years old.
