You’re No Good

Some of us have seen it coming for a while, others have buried their head in the sand, but tonight things are starting to fall into place.

The self proclaimed whistle-blower, and Joan Of Arc has been dumped from the HSU, and charges are to be laid against her by the union for breach of union regulations.

Kathy Jackson, the woman described by Tony Abbott as a woman worthy of admiration and a woman of great courage, has now felt the brunt of the members that have felt so badly done by with her at the helm of this once great union.

Going, going…….

It also need to be remembered that Kathy’s fiancé, Michael Lawler, Vice President of FWA, still has questions to answer over the FWA investigation into the HSU, and questions over his alleged influence over the investigation and interference in the HSU itself. These allegations were only strengthened by the KPMG report into the FWA investigation, especially when Michael Lawler refused to co-operate with the KPMG investigation which his own organisation commissioned.

Below is the media release that has gone out tonight from Chris Brown.

Brown charges Jackson’s

Seeks her removal as National Secretary

The Acting National President of the Health Services Union Chris Brown announced today that he was taking steps to remove the National Secretary Kathy Jackson from her position.

“I will be charging Kathy Jackson under the registered rules of the Union with gross misconduct, gross neglect of duty and substantial breach of the rules

and be seeking her removal from office” Mr Brown said.

Mr Brown said that “this move is necessary to ensure that the rebuilding of the Health Services Union, which was now underway, had every chance of succeeding.”

The Health Services Union has been through a torrid time over the past year with allegations of fraud and corruption dominating our attention.

“We have been working hard over the past twelve months to repair the reputation of the HSU and to put in place measures that will prevent this from occurring again in the future.  We want members not only to have confidence in the Union but also to regain their pride in their Union.”

“However in order for this to be successful the HSU needs a National Secretary who is dedicated to that cause, who will respect the will of the National Executive and National Council rather than working against it. We need someone who will put the interests of all members of the HSU ahead of their own interests and ambitions.”

The 10 charges under the rules of the HSU will focus on:

  • Ms Jackson’s failure to effectively perform the functions of the National Secretary
  • Ms Jackson’s failure to comply with policies and procedures put in place to avoid and detect fraudulent behaviour
  • Ms Jackson entering into contractual arrangements exposing the Union to hundreds of thousands of dollars of liability without seeking the approval of the National Executive or even advising the National Executive
  • Multiple breaches of the Rules of the Union and the Fair Work (Registered Organisations) Act 2009 exposing the union to possible further legal action and fines.

Mr Brown also expressed concern that Ms Jackson was the subject of an investigation by the Victorian Police Fraud & Extortion Squad for alleged corruption involving funds of the Victoria No.3 Branch when she was Branch Secretary.  “These allegations are serious and it is going to be impossible for Kathy Jackson as the National Secretary to be involved in the rebuilding of the Union while she is under investigation for corruption.”

Under the rules the charges laid by Mr Brown against Ms Jackson will initially be investigated by the Union Ombudsman Mr Errol Hodder and will then be determined by the Union’s National Executive.

The link below has details of the charges:

Jackson Charges – 27 August 2012

I am sure this won’t be the end of Kathy Jackson, rather just the start. Victorian Police are still investigating some of the many unusual financial transactions that have allegedly taken place, as reported here over the last few months.

I hope that tonights news will start to make the members feel a little better about their union, and also make them feel confident that justice is starting to be done.

There is a long way to go still, but things are starting to happen now.

Not before time either.

  1. Tonight’s “7.30 report” on Kathy Jackson, and Chris Brown’s charges against her, mentions the flawed Fair Work investigation of the HSU and Craig Thomson. However, Chris Uhlmann’s report is very, very superficial. It does not mention any of the following crucial facts:
    (1) the major criticism of the Fair Work investigation: Michael Lawler’s failure to cooperate with the
    investigation, refusing to hand over any of his “hand-held devices” that would, no doubt, incriminate him and Jackson;
    (2) that the so-called “findings” against Thomson match Kathy Jackson’s original fraudulent allegations against him, raising questions about what Nassios actually investigated and who pulled his strings;
    (3) the brilliant and evidence-supported work of Peter Wicks. Leigh Sales preposterously described the ABC report as “exclusive”!!!!
Make sure you get everyone you know to sign the Independent Australia petition against the appalling decline of the ABC, which is now no better than the right-wing controlled mainstream media.

  2. Phil says:

Can you believe that the Victorian Police are being frustrated by a lack of co-operation by Fair Work Australia. We need a Royal Commission now.

  3. jaycee says:

I nearly choked when I heard that utter bullsh*t artist : Sen’ Abetz changing sides and NOW calling for investigation against those he supported just “yesterday”!!….What a pr*ck!

  4. Marilyn says:

Which goes to show that the titterers on Insiders were wrong to claim Craig Thomson is being investigated by anyone.

That is an extraordinary amount of money filched by Kathy for her mates isn’t it as the media whinge about Craig Thomson’s bogus credit card slip.

  5. Marilyn says:

Guess Rob Elliott won’t be keeping that gig and the lawyers won’t get their tens of thousands and I bet Kate Mc won’t read the claims or the reasoning behind the claims.

  6. Sue says:

Looks as though Kathy Jackson may outdo Michael Williamson for spending HSU funds. With spending on that scale you think someone in the msm may go for a scoop an exclusive or even a headline story.

  7. wirilda johnny says:

That Uhlmann always manages to fit in a snide remark about Thomson, asylum seekers, Gillard or the Greens, depending on the story. He’s a dog!!!

  8. Lauriekidd says:

Keep up the good work, Peter. Looking forward to her day in court on criminal matters (if she shows)

  9. Deanna says:

Took a while , but the ABC finally cottoned on to investigating fact rather then pulp fiction. I am hugely dissapointed with the ABC’s level of incompetence of not challenging Jackson’s media whoring claims, instead Uhlman seemed cajoled by her claims . Blind Freddy could see her performances were obfuscation of the facts bolstered by the LNP who had already declared Jackson a patron Saint (for their anti-union cause) . Bravo , HR Nicholls even thought she deserved a gig , who else could help their fledgling group more then a union insider , willing to sell-out unionism widely condemned by real unionists at this point as a “turncoat”.

Jelly-backs Abetz & Abbott now want to pretend they never even heard of Kathy (sorry who ?) Jackson , and the MSM are finally picking up on the story, better late then never. One must surely be amazed at the sheer gumption of Jackson who still after revelation of primary evidence pleads innocence , and that her partner Lawler has not been subjected to the same judicial standards after what appears some fairly serious breaches of his professional conduct , elicits great concern on the impartiality of the FWA as a court of Industrial law. Perhaps we can all be allowed the privelege of presenting our own evidence in future Mr Nassios? Nice one.

Given that settlements of Jacksons & Williamsons entitlements are still i assume under the administrators watch. I propose garnishing their entitlements and that a cheque be presented back to the membership , who are rightful to those funds, and not supporting the lavish lifestyles of the rich and infamous millionaire Unionists.

  10. Sue says:

This morning on AM, Alexandre Kirk, was the interviewer. How pathetic, not one of the allegations were aired or put to Jackson. It sounded as though Kirk had not even bothered to read the allegations. After all the allegations against Thomson being reported over and over again, it was a disgrace by Kirk, AM, the ABC not to mention at least one of the details of the allegations raised by Chris Brown.

    • scotto says:

I thought the effort on ABC TV this moring was pretty soft. Essentialyl they just gave over the floor of a national broadcaster to her to say whatever she wanted. I must say that she came over a little precious, talking about ‘political motivations’ and so on, however it was a bit uncanny they no hard questions were asked of her.

  11. kazann says:

Looking at the media coverage today, those without knowledge of this site will probably be seeing Kathy as a victim. The media still seem to report only on what they can’t bury leaving Ms Jackson looking like she’s being stitched up for being a whistleblower rather than seeing the allegations against her and the supporting eviidence. I don’t believe the media has it’s head so far up it’s own arse that it isn’t aware of the information made available by Peter’s investigation so why the silence? Who does it benefit? Who is pulling the strings? Why the attempt’s to bury what would usually be seen as gold for the media.

    • thereal2bob says:

That is exactly how she came across on ABC news breakfast this morning. I was wondering where the question was about employing her partners kids and what they did for such large amounts of money. In a similar vein I am wondering where is the questions about Lawlers interference in the original FWA report? Hopefully we will see police charges but even if they are reported in the MSM you can bet that there will be no commentary or scrutiny. The echo chamber is reserved exclusively to focus attention on bogus Labor claims not ever on valid concerns that show conservatives in a bad light.

  12. jaycee says:

I marvel that the entire news-room staff still with a skerrick of ethics and journalistic integrity don’t revolt ahd physically throw Scott and Co. out the front door of ABC. House! I’m sure the only noise we would hear would be shouts of Hurrah! from long-wearied listeners and viewers of ‘Aunty’.

  13. scotto says:

Not before time either. As an HSU member I can’t wait to see this poisonous crap get worked out and Jackson to be tossed out with the garbage.

  14. Marilyn says:

The media get a set mind on most things. They all decided that Thomson was guilty of something, they refuse to understand that it was not true.

  15. jaycee says:

Wixxy..Have you ever considered offering your “Jacksonville” series to an international media body, like the BBC. They may find some interest in the scandalous connection between the LNP. and Lawler etc.?

  16. James says:

Just listened to 2GB radio interview with Chris Smith . The chutzpah ! the Gall ! “making up trumped up charges?” Good try Kathy ! Support your mates Rob Elliot with un-endorsed employment contracts worth $750 k , well looks like Elliot brains trust has done nothing for the HSU membership judging by their apalling pay and the fact that he never turned up , however has managed to furnish himself with an outrageous , contract courtesy of pal Kathy Jackson. yes Kathy we know about that press release coming out of Rob Elliot’s wife MP’s (Kaye Derveniza) office hmmm no political connections???Off course not , and that his wife last worked for the HSU before she was parachuted into a Labor seat ??

The rank opportunism , and blatant story telling before media of Jackson deserves an “award” , best acting , critically acclaimed method actress who lies with a straight face? 2GB Chris Smith is the most apallingly under-researched , mediocre jock you’ve got , because anybody can see her snout was right in that $270k tough , and so were her family, friends ,well connected political comrades, even boyfriends kids …and those charges are just the tip of a very big iceberg . Looking forward to justice day for all the members and keep up the great work Wixxy.

  17. […] Craig is not the only one to have had allegations of breaches of union rules levelled at him, you may remember Kathy Jackson faced similar allegations not that long ago. […]
